Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point

Is it possible to have a Christmas film that’s really just a series of little moments at a lively family meal, without really having a story to tell? A film that just runs off tinsel and good vibes? Yes it is!

A curtain blows through an open door. Someone enters a cafe and lets the cold into the warmth. Someone wells up at the table. Chunks of ice skid across the asphalt as people walk home. Glassware clinks, plates scrape, snow falls as music plays.

I didn’t grow up in America so I’m not strictly able to relate to this but there’s something I found so utterly entrancing about Taormina’s film that I didn’t want it to end. I’m worried you might find it boring, but then again I’m a bit worried for you if you find it boring.
