Last of the Red Hot Lovers
I could rob a bank, nobody would look up.

A middle-aged man (Alan Arkin) repeatedly tries and fails to have an affair.
This is an adaptation of a Neil Simon play (screenplay also by Simon) and it really shows - the meat and potatoes of the film happens in his mother’s apartment.
Sometimes that’s a frustrating concept but more often it yields a good amount of comedy, particularly as he starts to have repeat dates with different women and you see the little details of his schmoozing strategy start to evolve and change.
Arkin is a good grump and especially in the first third he’s really well cast to deliver the cynical dialogue.
Suffers from everyone-is-too-witty-itis but I liked the film nevertheless.
