Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

There are limits! This isn’t some bedtime story; this is the real world!

A thief (Chris Pine) and a rag tag bunch of adventurers go on a quest to find a relic.

I don’t know anything about D&D beyond the fact that you roll dice to decide your fate and people are kind of making it up as they go along. So I’m going to press on with this review even though I risk sounding like that guy who reviewed the Tetris movie despite never having heard of Tetris1.

Possibly like too many other people I’d written this tabletop game adaptation off as a cheap cash grab, but I was very much wrong to. It’s not as funny or good as The Princess Bride but it’s going for that vibe, which turns out to be a really great choice of tone for the film. It’s easy going, low stakes, well acted, well thought out and most importantly, pretty funny.

It’s very much not a film made for me and yet it’s a pretty good time.
