Twins of Evil

A religous cult terrorises a small town, while a group of over-zealous witch hunters try to stop them. The third in Hammer’s Karnstein Trilogy.

Quite an interesting film in the sense that the lines between good and bad are blurred. Yes the murderous vampires are one thing, but Peter Cushing’s god fearing witch hunter is constantly burning innocent young women at the stake.

Otherwise it’s pretty standard stuff; great set design and atmosphere, occasional flashes (fnar fnar) of brilliance, but all let down by dreary acting and a naff story. Also, they use real life twins which given the pervy tone is a bit weird.

In terms of the trilogy it’s probably second best behind The Vampire Lovers.
