Dumplin’

“She’s either at pageant meetings or at the nursing home wiping old peoples’ butts. It’s what happens to a lot of ex-beauty queens.”

A plus-sized teenager with a pageant-obsessed mother surprises everyone when she decides to take part in an event herself.

A sickly sweet and formulaic coming of age drama that I’m definitely not in the target market for. It’s a tiresome onslaught of rose-tinted flashbacks and montages. If you’re careful you might catch a lesser-spotted flashback-montage combo.

Forgettable slush.
