A heartbroken man encounters a kitten on his doorstep, takes it into his home and experiences a new lease of life. When a drug gang breaks in and steals it, he sets out with his friend into the criminal underworld to get his pet back.

There’s not a good track record for TV double acts moving to cinema but Key and Peele have bucked the trend and come out with a pretty funny buddy action comedy here. It’s largely a send up of Michael Bay style movies but also focuses a lot on identity and stereotypes to find its funniest moments.

Occasionally Keanu tries a little too hard and you’ll find yourself looking at your watch, but overall it’s more hits than misses. Plus, the cat is definitely worth saving.
