Alien
Anybody ever tell you you look dead, man?

So my local cinema showed a double bill of Alien + Aliens. I was wondering why, then as I was watching the film I got it - the Alien lives on moon 426 and in American dates that’s 4/26 which is today’s date.
However contrived the thought process I’m always happy to watch the first two of the franchise and seeing them on the big screen was a real treat. I won’t go on too long about this one, Alien is a personal favourite but I think whole books have already been written about the film.
A couple of things struck me this time round:
- The use of sound effects is brilliant. I love the computers in particular.
- This is one of the most beautiful sci-fi films ever made. Perhaps it’s just me but I feel that this aspect is often overlooked because it’s so effective in all other departments.
If you ever get the chance to see this at the Cinema, I heartily recommend it. Scott treads the line between art and entertainment beautifully to make a cerebral crowd-pleaser. Truly one of a kind.
